Levels of scale are still central to my thinking.  All human concerns: politics, local gossip, entertainment and status goals, are only meaningful on the human levels of scale: individual, social and normal.  We percieve the stage of our lives to be much, much bigger and more important than it really is. On literally every single other level of scale, these concerns are meaningless noise.

Furthermore, events at higher levels of scale are capable of radically altering or even erasing all human concerns.  We, as humans, live on a semi-spherical rotating object which orbits a star and moves through an unknown galaxy.  We have no idea what kind of hazards we need to prepare for from without, and we know all too well the self-created hazards humanity faces from within: nuclear, chemical, biological and electromagnetic weapons.  I have a renewed interest in the Lifeboat Foundation and I will be exploring their curious mission in future Brainsturbator articles.

I am interested in the smaller levels of scale, especially the sub-disciplines like ”Electrophysiology” and ”Psychoneuroimmunology." All of the really juicy science is interdisciplinary, because disciplines themselves are only conventional boundaries, totally arbitrary and deeply flawed.

BIOSCIENCE AND EARTH ENERGY

I believe that the most signifigant breakthroughs of this century will not be technological, they will be biological.  I believe we’re only a few generations away from real-deal superhumans and we need to make our culture a safe one for them to grow to their full potential.

My research is along several intertwined fault lines: psychic phenomena, non-human intelligence, and designing an abundant global civilization.  That last project is a doozy, yeah. It’s led me to a minute examination of the energy flow from the sun to the Earth—a flow which is hard to model and harder to understand.  The sun radiates energy in many forms, and their complex interaction leads to strange and powerful forces.

For instance, the surface of the sun has a temperature of around 6,000 Kelvin.  Once you get 500 kilometers away from the surface, the ambient temperature cools down considerably, reaching 4,000 Kelvin.  Then something strange happens: the further you get away from the surface, the more the atmosphere heats up.  Once you’re 2,500 kilometers away, this effect peaks out at a whopping 100,000 Kelvin—over 200 times hotter than the surface.

This remains unexplained, and to my mind, it’s a signifigant puzzle.

PSI PHENOMENA

Based upon personal experience, years of research, and especially the metastudies of Dean Radin as published in his book The Conscious Universe, I am quite satisfied of the “reality” of ESP, telepathy, and similar psychic phenomena. 

The question before me now is one of observation and exploration: what are the parameters of this potential? How can it be amplified and inhibited?  What environmental factors affect it, and does the phenomena itself create measurable effects, or only percieved ones? 

Here’s a short list of the critical concepts I’m playing with: biophotonics,

EXCEPTIONAL CONNECTIONS

If there is one common thread that unifies all this, it would be the pursuit of exceptional anomalies.  Consider water—visualize it if you’re not already.  When you mix most substances with water, they gradually mix into solvent.  When you mix it with sodium phosphate, it explodes and bursts into flames.  This is highly unusual, rarely occurs in nature, and most importantly, provides us with new information.

Another Dihydrogen Monoxide example would be pure water—really, completely pure water.  Ice cold.  Sounds delicious, but it’s actually fatal to any living mammal. Weird, huh? 

Likewise, UFO phenomena, psychic abilities, and contact with non-human intelligence are all exceptionally rare events, but their rich information content is what makes them so signifigant.  The unusual has a great deal more to teach us than normal daily life. 

One of the best books I’ve read this year was The Black Swan, which contains thousands of beautiful examples and illustrations of this.  My personal favorite: in the entire history of Wall Street trading, the biggest gains were made in just 10 single days of trading.  If you remove these 10 days from the data set, you’re removing almost half of all the profits Wall Street ever made. Clearly, those 10 days were not only rare and exceptional, they were extremely important to our economy and all of our lives as Westerners reading words in English on a computer screen right now.

Here’s some of the most interesting and important anomalies I’ve found in the Earth energy system:

Maunder Minimum, Lagrangian Point, Equatorial Electrojet, South Atlantic Anomaly, Sporadic E Propagation, and the Self-Ionization of Water.

WHERE THIS IS HEADED

I’m wondering if UFO phenomena, DMT experiences, psi phenomena and the rich human history of “encounters” with non-human entities aren’t connected to the sun somehow.  The physical aftereffects of UFO encounters are consistent with exposure to extreme EM charge and specifically, to high pulsed microwave activity.  I am also struck by the documented events where external observers saw a classic “bright floating light”, yet observers who were closer to the phenomena went through an elaborate “contact” experience, including communication and missing time.

In other words, the energy behind this phenomena undergoes radical changes and has incredible effects, when it interacts with a conscious observer. Perhaps this plasma phenomena is constantly going on, everywhere in the solar system.  (This would also go a long way towards explaining the epidemic amounts of “NASA UFOs” which are abundantly documented and thoroughly weird—more cartoons from the 5th dimension than actual “spacecraft” like the Challenger.)

I was originally working on a thesis connecting UFO Waves to nuclear testing, but the data totally failed to hold up. 

One really notable exception was the 1962 Wave in Brazil that corresponded to 2 important landmarks: first, the Starfish Prime nuclear test, which detonated a hydrogen bomb into the ionosphere and led to some very weird and unanticipated behavior.  This is signifigant because Brazil is directly beneath the South Atlantic Anomaly, which is where the Van Allen radiation/EM belts get closest to Earth.  If this Ionosphere went haywire, then Brazil would bear the brunt of it, along with polar regions.  The timing is also consistent: July 9th nuclear test becomes a late summer/early fall UFO Wave.

I’m also curious about all this in terms of a future human energy system.

Basically, I think it’s clear that in order to provide clean and free energy, we need to make the system human-proof.  Some vast, inherently secure, and maintenance-free.  This is an absurdly tall order but that’s how I roll.

In closing, this is probably a rambling mess but it’s the best I can crystallize the past month.  Once Brainsturbator gets rolling again, all these concepts will be a lot more clear, plus illustrated with pretty pictures.  Big dawg shout to Vizion and Kadmon.

The reason for Jung to get interested in relationship between religion and unconsciouss was a report from an schizophrenic talking about “a penis in the sun that throws wind”. Jung found descriptions of a similar tube in the sun in ancient religious texts--the story is told in Michael Talbot’s the “Holographic Universe”.

PSI PHENOMENA

Researching psychic phenomenon leads you to a strange synthesis: on one hand, the effects are undeniably real and repeatable. On the other hand, the effects are very weak.  Some people think that’s insignifigant, and I think those people are out of their motherfucking minds, and here’s why:

The basic effects we’re discussing here need to be stated precisely.  Human beings, through mental effort and concentration, can work physical effects in the outside world without any visible or measurable force being exerted.  These effects are indeed small and slight, but that’s all humans have ever needed.

Psi is worth studying because with enough data and discussion, we can figure out the mechanism at work behind this.  The second that’s done, humans will be working on replicating, enhancing and amplifying these effects with technology.

Electricity was once an obscure and controversial phenomenon, too.  We’ve figured out how to pull off some amazing magic tricks with that force of nature. 

Rational materialism objects that the human body doesn’t produce enough energy to account for these effects, but this is thinking on the wrong level of scale.  As humans on the surface of a spinning planet being exposed to constant solar and ambient radiation, we are constantly swimming in energy fields.  It would be a subtle but powerful biological trick to harness this energy.

Biology does that more or less constantly, on every level of scale.  I’m not talking “spiritual” anything, this is simple as photosynthesis, and amazing as the oceans dancing through space with the moon.

Here’s a short list of the critical concepts I’m playing with: biophotonics, the solar constant and the magnetosphere, the miraculous autotrophs like phytoplankton, and the heartbeat of the Gaia system, known to vulgar scientists as the Biological Pump.

The many types of models one can come up with to satisfy how this might happen inevitably sound totally whacked-out. i.e. “Does each human being exist as a sort of template, and we all literally have our own universe that rearranges itself every instant based on what we are thinking, with our memory also altering so that we get a seamless continuity of events?”

Yesterday i finished “Revelations” by Vallée. There’s a passage in which Valleé comments on Morris Jessup, an astronomer who got into UFO’s and got too into the misleading games of intelligency factions. But it appears that this guy got one theory that fits into this thing of “UFO as a psycho-cosmic interaction device” or something. On page 185, it is anmed that Jessup had a theory about UFO which implied that “the source if the UFOs is the neutral point of the system Sun-Earth-Moon”. I didn’t find the book online. Anyone has access to it or has read it?

Like giant, cosmic chutes between the Earth and sun, magnetic portals open up every eight minutes or so to connect our planet with its host star.

Once the portals open, loads of high-energy particles can travel the 93 million miles (150 million km) through the conduit during its brief opening, space scientists say.

Called a flux transfer event, or FTE, such cosmic connections not only exist but are possibly twice as common as anyone ever imagined, according to space scientists who attended the 2008 Plasma Workshop in Huntsville, Ala., last week.

“Ten years ago I was pretty sure they didn’t exist, but now the evidence is incontrovertible,” said David Sibeck, an astrophysicist at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.

Dynamic bursts

Researchers have long known that the Earth and sun must be connected. For instance, particles from the sun are constantly whisked away via the solar wind and often follow magnetic field lines that connect the sun’s atmosphere with terra firma. The field lines allow particles to penetrate Earth’s magnetosphere, the magnetic bubble that surrounds our planet.

“We used to think the connection was permanent and that solar wind could trickle into the near-Earth environment anytime the wind was active,” Sibeck said. “We were wrong. The connections are not steady at all. They are often brief, bursty and very dynamic.”

Several speakers at the workshop outlined the formation of a flux transfer event. One idea is that on the side of Earth facing the sun, our magnetic field presses against the sun’s magnetic field. And about every eight minutes, the two fields briefly reconnect, forming a portal through which particles can flow. The portal takes the form of a magnetic cylinder about as wide as Earth.

Sibeck said to think of the FTE as a giant rolling pin that lies flat along the boundary between the Earth’s and sun’s magnetic fields. (He noted the rolling pin would have to be malleable so it could pierce through both magnetic fields while lying flat.)

“These FTEs kind of look like roller pins, and they form as little blob roller pins at the tip of the magnetosphere facing the sun,” Sibeck told SPACE.com. “They can’t decide which way they’re going to slide around the Earth, so they grow there into big roller pins and then they take off and sort of spirally roll along [Earth’s magnetosphere] like you’re pounding out dough.”

More than one FTE can form at once, he said, and they stay open for about 15 to 20 minutes.

More to learn

In order to measure such FTEs, spacecraft must not only catch them forming but also be on either end of the magnetic structures (either lengthwise or widthwise). In fact, the European Space Agency’s fleet of four Cluster spacecraft and NASA’s five THEMIS probes have flown through and surrounded these cylinders, measuring their dimensions and sensing the particles that shoot through, Sibeck said. While these measurements have nailed down the width of an FTE, the length is still uncertain though one measurement put it at up to five Earth radii. One Earth radius is about 4,000 miles (6,400 kilometers).

Astrophysicist Jimmy Raeder of the University of New Hampshire used those measurements to develop computer simulations of the portals. He found the cylindrical portals tend to form above Earth’s equator and then in December, the FTEs would roll over the North Pole. In July, they roll over the South Pole.

Sibeck thinks the events occur twice as often as previously thought, proposing two types of flux transfer events — active and passive.

When the magnetic cylinders are active, they allow particles to flow through rather easily, forming important conduits of energy for Earth’s magnetosphere, Sibeck said. When passive, the cylinders have more resistance to transiting particles. The internal structure of a passive cylinder makes it tougher for particles and magnetic fields to flow through. Sibeck has calculated the properties of passive FTEs and hopes he and his colleagues will hunt for signs of them in data collected with THEMIS and Cluster.

The space scientists at the workshop still want to figure out why the portals form every eight minutes and how magnetic fields inside the cylinders twist and coil.

And so you all continue to STAY WITHIN SCIENCE looking at it, while trapped in its boundaries, thinking some how this will enable you to discover something new while dependent on the same measuring standards of the problem in the first place.  OK I’ve pointed this out several times but it’s a PSYCHOLOGICAL blockage which means you have to transform your body first and then your mind.

...and while I work on that, I continue to follow science.  I also get heckled on occasion.

I’ll give an example.  I just found some new books so I sold them and got $1.50 for one of them (none for the others).  The one worker referred to the other as Claudette and I realized I had mistaken her accent before as British, not French. haha.  I said, “so you’re not Burundian?” She said she was, and I reminded her of our previous exchange.  This reminded me of this cafe owner in the neighborhood, I think he’s from India, but he owns several cafes.  One of the customers complained that all of the cafe is NOT fair-trade—only some of it.  He replied that if it was ALL fair-trade he would be excluded from buying from new coffee farms which had excellent coffee yet too poor to join the Fair Trade Network.  He stated that he was in Burundi recently with the help of the USAID which enabled him to buy coffee at an excellent and even better than fair price.  This reminded me of Wayne Madsen reporting that USAID had worked with the CIA to set up fake cooperatives that bought coffee at slave-wage prices in Ethiopia and East Timor, and that these cooperatives had in turn joined larger fair trade federations of anarchists, thereby giving themselves greater crediblity.  So I just searched Wayne Madsen and Burundi to see what I’d find:
