Taking Requests for 2007: Open Thread

+ expand info  //  view thread  //  36 responses  //  print article

We have a long year ahead of us, and although I’ve got about 30-40 half-finished articles on deck right now, I’m curious as to what the readers would like to see covered.  I’m even more curious about weird wrinkles I might not be aware of, since odds are your suggestions will be new to me.  So this is just an open thread fishing for comments.  There will be a real Brainsturbator post going up tomorrow, and pretty much every other day after that—we’re back on schedule, folks, thanks for putting up with a long hiatus.

Also, about comments: we’ve started getting spam comments that make it past the otherwise excellent filters that Expression Engine provides.  (By the way, if anyone reading this is considering a website or blog, I would highly recommend Expression Engine—we’ve used nearly everything else and nothing comes close.  It’s sexy, and they’re not even paying us to say that.) That’s why the comments get approved before they go up—it’s nothing against y’all.

Also also, apologies to everyone who sent me PDF’s for the Brainsturbator Library since, oh...December 1st.  I haven’t updated that in awhile, I’ll be getting on that before 2007 hits us.

Do something crazy this week—as everyone knows, from Christmas to New Years, nothing you do really counts, so go crazy.

How about an exposé on Carlos Castaneda? The mystery surrounding the vanishing of several of his followers (the witches) after his death from liver cancer. I just read a bit about it recently, pretty juicy stuff.

How about an article on biospheres ( big and small) but with the emphasis on self-sustained housing of one or more humans? What about a “Nicola Tesla we salute you” article ? If you’re willing : a list of all the armed conflicts the US were involved in over the last , say ... 100 years , each followed by a brief description of the real who, what, where ... etc ( might be an eye-opener to see a general overview of that stuff ) .
Could you do an article on lucid dreaming and/or self induced out-of-body experiences ?
An article on T. Kaczynskies theory ( aka unabomber manifesto ), granted, the guy was nuts but something in that crazy ( eloquent ? ) text keeps tickling my imagination ...
That’s all I can think of for now, thank you for all the info and fun ! I wish you many long days and pleasant nights ...

We’re working on a whole week of Tesla, but the Kazynski is a great idea—there’s a LOT of weird shit there, he was an MK ULTRA test subject, too.

And the list of conflicts?  Genius.  I will definitely do that.

Perhaps a piece that explains what money is and what that means nowadays. I don’t really “get” the whole fiat money system, or it’s implications. Maybe something about exactly how banks work and what that means would be excellent as well.

Yeah, ancient technologies (Mayan calendar stuff seems cliche, but you can dig quite deep with that)

Crowley would be pretty cool, he was a lot like Tim Leary...both a trickster and a benefactor to his followers. Both sort of developed cultish followings and took advantage of that, yet through their tricks they were able to help some of their followers improve themselves. I see that a lot of very intelligent/enlightened people tend to become tricksters to get people to think for themselves...kinda like you! (Although as a disclaimer, you by no means are trying to control people for any reason...)

Perhaps some environmental awareness stuff, expose on oil companies in South America (The U’Wa Tribe in Columbia), global warming and how agriculture is destroying our world. I recently found out that They can nuke food and call it pastuerization (http://zmagsite.zmag.org/Feb2003/peck0203.html)

Also civil liberties: the homeless condition, some stuff on anarchy/freeganism (http://crimethinc.com/ and others),

Something on Frank Zappa? He’s sort of a hero of mine.

    Stuff on the EZLN? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zapatista_Army_of_National_Liberation)

....that’s about all I can think of for now.

(ps hope the antispam thingy works...)

Since the ultimate smoking gun was the 9/11 attacks on WTC and the Pentagon, let’s all work to clear up just exactly what did happen to UA93 and UA175 as well as AA11 and AA77.  The FAA and the flight controllers, black boxes, eye witnesses, surveillance tapes and personnel at the Cleveland Airport and Dulles all know that they did not crash in to their targets.  What happened to the passengers and what deals have been made with their families?  What pressures have been brought to bare on the NYPD and NYFD to keep those brave heroes who survived from coming forward as eye witnesses to the demolitions?  All of the people who witnessed the attacks and collapsing of the WTC buildings and the Pentagon strike must be busting a gut to tell everyone the truth about what they did and did not see and hear.  The gold that was stored under the twin towers had to go somewhere.  We would like to know how much there really was and where it was taken.  The radioactivity around the WTC didn’t come from office equpment or commercial airliners.  The pyroclastic flow from exploding debris didn’t come from “pancaking” WTC buildings or jet fuel. Thermate traces would have remained on the “evidentiary debris” from the basement that glowed red and gold for 3 weeks after the attacks. Who is holding that evidence?  Who was put in charge of questioning the highly suspicious roles played in the WTC scenario by Larry Siverstein, Marvin Bush and Securacom’s CEO Walker from the Bush bloodline?  Why the HazMat suits and decontamination efforts for emergency responders at the Pentagon and Flight 93 “crash sites”? What investigations have there been about all the United and American Airlines stock trading and “put options” that occured from 9/6 through 9/10/01?  Cuo bono?  Why did Cheney not order the “plane” approaching the Pentagon be shot down long before the alleged crash?  Why did the President say on video that he had witnessed the first plane crash in to the North Tower while he waited to enter the class room in Florida on 9/11 and why has noone in mass media questioned him about that damning statement?  Rumsfeld made similar gaffs on video after 9/11 and noone pursued his Fruedian slips either.  Why are these demons not interviewed separately by a trained and objective investigator appointed by a special counselor?  The FAA records showing that at least 2 of the 4 “hijacked” planes were still listed as “in service” long after 9/11 and not “destroyed” as required?  What happened to the original passenger list/manifests from all 4 planes? Where are the airport security personnel who allowed profiled terrorists to board with box cutters, etc?  Where are the airport surveillance videos showing the hijackers at boarding security points?  Why does the FBI continue to have all 19 pictures of the hijackers displayed when some were proven to be fakes while others on the list have been proven to be alive?  Where is the “evidence” that bin Laden or “al Qaeda” were ever actually involved?

These are only a very few questions that need serious investigation and truthful answers that are consistent with the abundance of physical and circumstantial evidence left in the wake of 9/11 and we need those answers to impeach Bush, Cheney and Rice before they get away with this horrible inside job completely.  The whole world needs to know that Americans are not evil, ignorant sheep who can’t see and know what they do.

By the way, Hal?  I’m honestly as paranoid and willing to point a finger at conspiracy as your average American, if not moreso, but let the 9/11 thing die.  The planes hit the buildings.  It wasn’t missles or bombs or EMPs or Israeli tactical nukes.

It almost seems too obvious, but with a name like “Brainsturbator”, the cake just won’t be baked until we get some coverage of nootropics. Here’s a place to start: http://www.nootropics.com/.

Using smart drugs for fun and profit. Mixing nootropics with psychotropics. Basically, growing brains that more resemble forests of bushy dentrites, rather than stunted bonsai trees.

Speaking of “bonsai”, how ‘bout a “Buckaroo Bonzai, We Salute You”. Hell, he’d make a great Patron Saint for Brainsturbator, except for the fact that he’s fictional, but who isn’t?

“You can check your anatomy all you want, and even though there may be normal variation, when it comes right down to it, this far inside the head it all looks the same. No, no, no, don’t tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to. “
